McDonald Insurance Agency, located in Marietta, GA, is a leading national independent insurance agency for the childcare industry and other businesses. For over 30 years, we’ve insured childcare, private schools and other businesses across the nation. We are proud members of the Georgia Childcare Association as well as other state and nationwide associations and organizations committed to serving children, education, and business. We form valuable relationships with our clients, creating thriving partnerships committed to successful businesses, effective loss control, and optimum insurance protection.
Gina McDonald originally hails from Fort Wayne, Indiana, where her father was stationed in the Air Force. She started a career of civil service with the Department of Defense and worked in transportation and quality assurance. She also worked for the Defense Investigative Service. Gina’s insurance career spans over 30 years, serving many kinds of businesses. Gina’s first job in the insurance industry was as a claims manager before quickly getting promoted to Commercial Marketing Manager. Gina co-owned McDonald Insurance Agency when it first opened in 1996 and she officially became sole owner and CEO in September, 2014. Over the years, Gina’s leadership and experience in commercial insurance and customer relations management has served as the foundation for the firm. Gina has a love and passion for insuring the childcare industry and providing many other businesses with the insurance they need to be successful.
Gina has made Marietta her home after residing here for many years. In her spare time, Gina enjoys concerts, boating on nearby Lake Allatoona, being on the beach and travelling to exotic lands and places. Her hands are especially full tending to Stella, her adorable Yorkshire terrier.
Spending his childhood and much of his business life in Alabama, Greg feels right at home living in Georgia. He joined the insurance industry in 1979, just out of the University of Alabama. Learning the skills needed to be successful in sales & business, he diversified into the residential and commercial lighting industry, ultimately starting his own sales agency. Through three mergers, an acquisition, manufacturing partners’ consolidations & liquidations, and a lot of relationship building, he and his team built a solid foundation of success that provided the resources to comfortably raise a dozen families. Family is important, which is why Greg’s son now runs the business…the fulfillment of a succession plan to continue the family business.
As a business owner for 30+ years, he saw the highs and lows of running a business, understanding the joys as well as the risks of small to mid-sized businesses. Greg maintains his passion for helping business owners, as he has for 40 years.
John Hyatt joined the team as a licensed producer/agent in January, 2014. He comes from a diverse background of adventure and experience. He is a retired US Army lieutenant colonel with over 27 years of both active and reserve service, including a year-long tour in Afghanistan. He worked previously in several fields including: Merrill Lynch and SunTrust Bank as a financial advisor, private investigator, personal trainer, and a military consultant to a computer design firm in the field of situational awareness and decision-making. John is also the “Coach on the Square” in Marietta, where he is a certified life and relationship coach, helping people achieve breakthroughs in various areas of their lives.
John grew up in Lovettsville, Virginia, travelled extensively while in the military and has lived in Marietta since 2003. He is the proud father of five children and five grandchildren.
Gina’s Yorkshire terrier, Stella, rules the office with her gentle yet playful way of getting your attention. She is a brave watch dog, boldly announcing the arrival of customers to our office. Stella gets spoiled for the way she graces us with her happy presence, always reminding us to focus on what’s good in life.
