Your business interruption (or business income) coverage comes into play only when there is a physical loss or damage from a covered property insurance peril, e.g., fire, lighting, wind, hail, etc.  Coronavirus is not a covered peril under a typical property policy.  In the event of a “civil authority” closure, there must be a related covered property insurance peril that causes the closure to occur, in order for business income coverage to be triggered.

The current situation regarding the Coronavirus is evolving daily, and the insurance industry is keeping an eye on aspects that might impact potential claims or losses.

The best thing you can do today is to follow everyday preventive measures, stay informed, and have a plan in place.
